We've been interested in Mice and Mystics but also just got Descent: Journeys in the Dark 2nd Edition for Christmas and the boys have loved it - playing constantly. I think this is a great choice for people looking for a role-playing experience in a board game, especially those who are just getting into modern board games.

In fact, maybe the design was a little bit too safe, and if some risks were taken with combat mechanic, the game could be more exciting. Simply go on Kickstarter and type in the phrase “dungeon crawling board game” and you will be flooded with hundreds of options, all promising the next big thing in the world of role-playing. So when I heard about the innovative new dungeon crawler, Mice and Mystics, I was immediately intrigued. Over the course of the game my friend and I have got to know each other better and it’s given us a reason to get together regularly and provided us with some of the in-jokes and references that the best friendships are based on. My final con for Mice and Mystics was that I felt the dice played too much of a factor in determining the outcome of the game.

These are a few of the issues that we came across in our limited pay through (we did not complete the game).If you can get past the luck driven nature of the dice and the lighter combat rules, I think there is a lot of fun to be had here.
