The Living Well One Line a Day journal is another option, which is designed for anyone with health and wellness goals they'd like to keep long-term. But when I started to review entries in the following months, I realized that I didn’t even usually remember the “bad days” that had taken up space in my journal. Dann entdeckte ich One line a Day und war geflasht vom Design und das Wundervollste ist, man hat wirklich nur sechs Zeilen für ein Tagesresümee. It seems substantially built enough to survive 5 years of note taking (assuming you aren’t dragging it up El Capitan and wilderness treks every month).

As I continued to journal and reflect, I began to notice helpful patterns in what I was writing that nodded to cycles in my life and how I was feeling. Jot down ideas or highlights one page for every day and compare your entries to the same date in years past in this notebook.

Think of something you have achieved, whether it’s a big goal or milestone, getting through your to-do list or cooking a new recipe – or even just getting through the day. Several months into my journaling journey, my now nine-year-old niece began insisting that I start reading some of my entries to her on a monthly basis (especially the ones that mentioned her). Es ist frustrierend wenn man vor einer leeren Seite sitzt und sich fragt, was an meinem Tag war jetzt wichtig genug um erwähnt zu werden. Whenever I noticed these writing redundancies, I could see they were emblematic of redundancies in my life, in general. By capturing a small snapshot in my journal of who I was every day for five years, I now have a time capsule that’s allowed me to really see and appreciate how much I’ve changed.

Come the second year, you flick back to the front of the book (aka January 1) and fill in the second space on each page. When I first began my journal, each entry started with “Today, I…” The redundant sentence starter soon inspired me to look for more creative ways to begin, which turned me into a more thoughtful observer of my surroundings. In the five years it took to fill this journal, I changed jobs four times, had four different addresses, and went from being very single to very not single. I bought mine when I was 15 and I am about to turn 20 and I can honestly say I have really enjoyed documenting what I do every day, and looking back on what I have done days previously. Each page features space to jot down an idea or daily highlight on the same date over five years, allowing journalers to look back on years past as they capture the present. I'm looking forwards to getting to the same pages next year to look back on how far I've come, let alone 5 years! The 365 days of the year each have a page, with five entries so you can revisit what you wrote last year and what you were doing on this day for five years!
