About this deal

This is amazing. Guenther has a hilarious sense of humour, and I found myself laughing throughout šŸ˜† It's such an easy read and gives such an insight into a year in the life of f1 drivers and team principals.

Who has been the best team principal during his time in F1? ā€œI would say [Mercedesā€™s] Toto Wolff because he also came in nine years ago. He looked at it very carefully for a long time and he has done a good job ā€“ not only the seven championships but also the good organisation and the way he behaves in business.ā€It still puts a smile on my face because it wasnā€™t by design. I didnā€™t try to do this. It just happened. If they feel happy, Iā€™m happy for them," said Steiner. Build the strongest argument relying on authoritative content, attorney-editor expertise, and industry defining technology. Steiner believes that all current F1 racing drivers should look to an elder statesman in the magnificent Fernando Alonso, who is third in the championship standings behind Red Bullā€™s Verstappen and Sergio PĆ©rez ā€“ and 15 points ahead of Hamilton in fourth place. ā€œIā€™m a little surprised how physically heā€™s still so good,ā€ Steiner says after praising the 41-year-old Alonsoā€™s application and dedication. ā€œI know that racing-wise heā€™s the master in the field. But it seems like he doesnā€™t even feel his age. It is surprising he can take [the punishment of driving a F1 car] and beat others physically.ā€

Fans of the series will love this canter through an eventful season which brings them closer to the characters they see on TV. Even those who have never watched the show (like Steiner himself, or so he claims) will warm to the engaging boss of Haas. JD

Retailers:

But Steinerā€™s thoughts will now be available for fans to read in the new book, published by Transworld and due for release next April.

As fun as I see it is to make a inside DTS joke But honestly after the 5000 fok it just got annoying. Gernerally the "fun guentherism" words just got on my nerve.

Is he tired of the attention because, in some quarters of F1 fandom, Steiner stands alongside Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton as one of the most recognised faces of the sport? ā€œYeah, a little bit because Iā€™m not doing it for the attention. The attention came with [Netflix] and changing my attitude would be wrong. I think Formula One without the fans is nothing. A lot of people in F1 think we race for ourselves. No, we race for the fans because otherwise we are not racing. So if the fans like it and if they want a picture, why would I say no? But it takes time out of my day and Iā€™m running a team and I cannot just run around taking pictures. My boss would not be happy with that one.ā€ People talk about football managers being under pressure. Trust me, thatā€™s nothing. Pressure is watching one of your drivers hit a barrier at 190mph and exploding before your eyesā€¦ā€ Fearless and candid, Surviving to Drive reads like the night-time confessions of a football manager who is fighting to stay in the Premier League. A gleeful guide to a bonkers sport from a loveable rogue insider.ā€ ā€” The Times I came into this book only really knowing about Guenther and Haas from the Drive to Survive series, and I now come away after finishing it a bigger fan, not quite Connor McGregor level, but will definitely keep an eye out for them in future races. Steiner chortles as he imagines himself as that donkey and he insists that stepping away from Formula One is not currently on his agenda. ā€œThe donkey will know when that time has come,ā€ he says before becoming more serious about the pressure he faces. ā€œYeah, you feel the weight of it but I still enjoy it. You have to take the stress if you want to do this job. And Iā€™m going to do it as long as I want.ā€

The book is a rare example of an active F1 boss putting his thoughts into print, however forthright and uncomplimentary. This was SUCH an easy read. Even if youā€™re not heavily in to Formula 1, I still think this would be an interesting insight into how it all works and understand the struggles and challenges they face. Especially since itā€™s all told from the mind and eyes of Guenther Steiner. He is absolutely hilarious and just seems so genuine. Surviving to Driveā€”a not-so-subtle linguistic twist on Drive to Surviveā€”is the most anticipated Formula 1 book in some time.Steiner shrugs. ā€œI try not to look at them because I donā€™t think Iā€™m particularly good-looking. I wouldnā€™t say my face is beautiful.ā€ Have the German media forgiven him for casting Schumacher aside ā€“ especially as he is the son of a legendary world champion? ā€œI donā€™t need to be forgiven. I donā€™t feel guilty. I gave somebody a good chance so why should I feel I did wrong?ā€ Written like a dairy, Haas F1 Teamā€™s principal Guenther Steiner takes us on a trip through the 2022 Formula 1 season. I am not a biography type of guy, but being a Formula 1 fan since young age this was a must read for me. The dairy style writing makes it so that it doesnā€™t feel like a biography but rather feels like an inside view of a team principals mind. The book promises to be ā€œuncompromising and searingly honest, told in Steinerā€™s inimitable styleā€ and give fans a look at the inner-workings of an F1 team from the view of a team principal. Steiner swears only once in this interview and he is thoughtful, and so I wonder if he also gets weary of his comic persona. Have people forgotten the nous and vast experience in motorsport which helped him set up Haas as a pioneering US team and how he has managed to keep them racing? ā€œI wouldnā€™t say forgotten,ā€ he says with an airy wave. ā€œAnd thereā€™s no need to remind people all the time what I actually did. The most important thing is Mr Haas still thinks I do the right job. I think I do a decent job and I know my priority is to run the team.ā€
